Success of the Greater Chapel Hill Association of REALTORS® (GCHAR) is dependent upon members and their willingness to volunteer in a leadership capacity. To that end, GCHAR established a Leadership Scholarship to encourage leadership education. Scholarship applicants must be willing to serve on the Board of Directors or on a committee/task force of the Association with the intent to move into a leadership role.
Funding:
Selected applicants are eligible to receive up to 50% of the total cost of leadership education investment for any given program or event. Although not inclusive, the following meet the criteria for leadership education:
Registration and hotel for NCAR or NAR conventions
Triangle REALTORS® Leadership Academy
Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program
NCAR Leadership Academy
Procedure:
Applications should include a written synopsis of the learning objectives of the program or event candidates wish to participate in along with any printed literature promoting the program or conference.
Applications are accepted throughout the year. Funding is limited and will be awarded based on availability of funds. Requests for funding should be submitted at least 60 days in advance of the program or event. Reimbursement will be made after completion of program or event as outlined in the Obligation section of this policy. Scholarship recipients will be notified in writing of their acceptance and subsequent obligation requirements no later than 60 days after receipt of application.
Funding for individual recipients may not be awarded more than twice a year with a maximum funding of $500 per year.
Obligation:
Acceptance of funding is a contract offered in good faith. Failure to fulfill your obligation to serve GCHAR in a volunteer capacity negates funding and may result in repayment of scholarship. In some instances, recipients may be required to make a presentation to the Board of Directors or general membership as a provision for reimbursement.
Scholarship dollars will be granted to each award recipient upon completion of their program or event.
Funds will only be disbursed to members of the Greater Chapel Hill Association of REALTORS®. If recipient transfers membership or terminates their REALTOR® status prior to completing the program or event, funding will be forfeited.
